Suhanko mine
Suhanko Arctic Platinum Oy is preparing to open a multi-metal mine in Ranua. Construction of the mine could start in 2025 and production from 2027 onwards. The mine is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in autumn 2024.

Jobs
The construction phase is estimated to take 2-3 years and employ around 1000 people.
The direct employment impact of an operational mine is about 400 person-years and the estimated lifetime of the mine is more than 20 years.
There may be almost a hundred different job titles.
Operational environment
The mine is located in the municipality of Ranua, an untamed municipality in the southern part of the province of Lapland. The municipality has apartments, two shops, a kindergarten, a primary and secondary school, a welfare centre and various sports facilities.
Distances to the mine: 30 min. from the municipality of Ranua (45 km) and 60 min. from the centre of Rovaniemi (75 km). The distance from Ranua to Rovaniemi is 80 km and to Oulu 150 km.
